When I spoke to Liz & Tyndall for the first time in March of 2012. I asked them what photo was most important to them. Their answer: “…a group photo of everyone at the wedding”. Liz and Tyndall were traveling down from Alaska to get married on Tyndall’s parents property right here in Rixeyville. Both of their families had never meet and “this would be the first time they would all be in the same place”. I loved that answer, because, after all, family is what matters and is always most important. Congrats! xoxo

Monday, I got the chance to meet Liz & Tyndall. They both live in Alaska and were in town for Thanksgiving so we met at Tyndall’s parents house, where they’ll also be getting married, April 2013. Onslow, The Family Beagle led us around the property and was even my assistant a time or two. LoL
I can’t wait to see Liz & Tyndall again in April.

What an awesome time we had shooting Taylors Senior Portraits. Taylor was great! She did every crazy thing I asked no matter how silly it seemed. And now she’s got a bunch of awesome FO-TOES!
Woot Woot! Seriously though, she’s pretty much a natural when it comes to modeling! Sophie (her horse) on the other hand, wanted no parts of my camera but even she did great. I had a blast & hope you did too!

I just love when a couple has fun with their engagement session. And that’s exactly what Monica and Jonathan did with theirs! She even made pies & brought them to their session! Love her! Their day had finally come, September 8, 2012 and we were all waking up to the weather men saying things like severe thunderstorms, wind gusts exceeding 60 miles per hour, supercells, and tornadoes. Ummm…not what a bride & groom want to hear on their wedding day. Especially when they have plans for an outdoor wedding. However, Nicole & Matt were simply amazing! They wanted to do a first look and I was just as excited about it as they were! I had the best spot in mind all planned out near the creek bed where some yellow wild flowers were blooming in the background. However, due to the forecast we decided to move it to the only covered outdoor area on the vineyard, the front porch of the actual Old House. Everyone is now ready, let’s do this! As soon as we went outside the rain started coming down sideways (towards us) while we were on the front porch. So, in the house we went. Everyone was trying to check the weather report but honestly cell service in the sticks barely works on a clear day we’d be lucky to even get the page to load. So, do we wait for the rain to stop? What should we do? Poor Nicole, she simply could not wait any longer and wanted her groom to see her so first look will now be in the lobby of the Old House. I shuffled the bridal party & family members into another room so Nicole & Matt could have their “privacy”. Things definitely did not go as planned due to mother nature but like I said, Nicole & Matt were amazing. Weather Shmeather, they just wanted to be with each other. And the ceremony. They got married in the rain! Yes, in the rain and with ALL their friends and family right there in the rain with them. It was a super fast ceremony (not Vegas strip fast but pretty fast) and like Nicole said “we can’t change the weather.” Ironic how all the rain and the 60 mph wind gusts and the tornado warnings made their wedding the most beautiful wedding!

Today, August 30 marks the 2 year anniversary of the first day I met Cindy. She reached out to me through an email that began with “Be friends?” At the time, Cindy was a Mom of 2 little boys (ages 3 and 3 months) and was just starting her photography business specializing in newborn photography. She also lived in Culpeper and “figured rather than being “rivals” we might be able to become friends and help each other out.” LOVE IT! And that’s just what we did! OK, so we’ve only had 3, maybe 4 “get togethers” in the past two years but we make the most of them when we do! I love getting together with her and brainstorming ideas. And SO much easier to do with two people! LoL Seriously, have you ever tried brainstorming by yourself? It just doesn’t work, and the dog is no help either. His only input is that he doesn’t like the UPS man, the FedEx man or the mailman. Back on topic here. Today, Cindy works a full-time job, runs her business, Cindy White Photography, and raises 5 kiddos. It’s no wonder we don’t get together more often.

What a fun couple! Especially for 7:30AM on a Saturday! Why so early you ask? Ummm…cause we pretty much had all of Alexandria to ourselves! You know, while the joggers, bicyclers & people walking their dogs are still having their 1st cup of coffee. Yep! Could not have worked out any better! Nicole & Matt were a hoot too, exactly what I needed that early in the morning since I don’t drink coffee. LoL We got some great photos that morning and I can’t wait for their wedding, just around the corner in September.

IBM cards as place cards. The Groomsmen wearing superhero T-shirts. The Superman theme song playing for their ‘Grand Entrance’. Giant Jenga turned drinking game for the guest. Do Yvonne & Matt know how to have a wedding or what? I love everything about these two! They even choreographed their own first dance. And the story of how they met and fell in love was just the sweetest! Yvonne & Matt are my kind of peeps! Congratulations you two!

WoW! or should I say Woo! I had such a hard time narrowing down my favorites from April & Rogers wedding. So, I decided to just go with it and do a ginormous blog post. It took me a couple extra days but it was SO worth it! Both April & Roger put SO much work into every detail, including the signs & flags (Yep! Roger made those) and the outcome was absolutely beautiful! What an awesome way to begin a life together…

Congratulazioni April & Roger!!! Have a great time in Italy! And take LOTS of pictures!

Omgosh! Can’t believe I forgot to snag one of those orange slices on the right! Darn me!

I think everyone in the room was choked up here. Including myself… (I was thinking about my little girl getting married soon, she’s only 7 but still makes me sad…)

This was hilarious! LoL

The little ones danced all night (courtesy of those orange slices I forgot to snag)! Little man did The Robot for 45 minutes straight. I was impressed!
